REALTOR® Safety Month

 

Join us for a virtual safety workshop to learn about safety tips and crime statistics, and gain knowledge on how to remain aware and keep yourself safe as you conduct business. As we all know, REALTORS® face job-related riskes every day. Being aware of potential dangers and taking precautions can help you avoid risky situations that can happen to any agent-including you. In this workshop you'll hear from a REALTOR® survivor about her own experiences and how to better prepare yourself to stay safe. You'll takeaway the best habits, tips and tools all real estate professionals should include in their safety practices.

sheriff picSheriff Ed McMahon, New Hanover County Sheriff

 Ed McMahon began his law enforcement career in 1988 with the Vermont State Police, where he rose to the rank of Senior Trooper. In 1991, he and his family returned to Wilmington, where he joined the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Ed has worked in both the Patrol Division and the Detective Division, as a Deputy, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Assistant Division Commander. In 2003 he was promoted to the rank of Captain, and assigned to head the Judicial Services Division. In 2007 Ed was promoted to Chief Deputy, serving in that position until 2009, when Sheriff Sid Causey retired and he was appointed to Sheriff. Ed was elected by the people of New Hanover County to serve as their Sheriff in 2010, 2014 and again in 2018. In 2013, Sheriff Ed was appointed to the Seventh Congressional District Homeland Security Task Force and graduated Chief Executive Leadership Training at the Southern Police Institute.

Perquimans County native, Debbie Morrisette has resided in Camden County with her husband, Lucien for 40 years. Debbie and Lucien have 3 grown children, April Lynn, Oliver and Spence, a daughter-in-law, Trish and saving the best for last 3 precious grandchildren, Wesley, Daxton and  Avery!  Debbie began her real estate career in 2004 and has never looked back!  Debbie has remained a consistent Top Real Estate Producer for the past 16 years. Breanne Gingerich, NAR Safety Team

Breanna Gingerich is a Marketing Manager of Strategy and Promotion for the National Assocaiation of REALTORS®. She has managed NAR's REALTOR® Safety Program since 2015, and serves as the Staff Executive of NAR's newly formed REALTOR® Safety Advisory Committee. She is passionate about REALTOR® safety and working with the Safety Committee members to imporve the Safety Culture in the industry.
